What's new

Kings Island | Banshee | B&M Invert

It looks like trims are on the way down if you ask me.

Look at the further back lamp post and the track directly to the left of that.

Those look like trims

My home park is SFGAm but I used to live/work in Ohio at CP so we visited KI often, I miss it dearly.

After Goliath, Banshee is the next attraction I'm lookin' most forward to this year. It looks amazing, such a gorgeous ride for a great park!! x

Here's the logo sign sitting at the entrance.

Can't believe we have just under a couple weeks before this opens. :)

Not all that significant, but they are advertising on the standees at Kroger. Snapped a picture when I was there earlier today.

Here's a photo of the queue, which will sport the Cedar Fair triangle canopies. Always a fan of these as they allow for proper shade and are able to catch a breeze.

In other news, Kings Island has been busy tearing up the awful blacktop in parts of the park to be replaced by regular concrete. As any fine upstanding science student will observe, the color black will absorb heat more readily than other colors. This translates to blacktop being VERY hot in the summer time.

Cedar Point has been making motions to replace remaining portion of blacktop in their park as well (Gemini Midway is being replaced this season).

And a mild side rant - Kings Island officially opens this year on Good Friday. This can be frustrating for folks who were planning on traveling home for the Easter holiday weekend (such as myself), and doubly disadvantageous as not everyone will have a three day weekend for Easter. Guess I'll be missing out on that XL first-rider Banshee t-shirt.

That is awesome! Looking forward to seeing plenty more pictures when there are more visits to this.

Not sure if a ride sign counts as theming, but I agree that Cedar Fair has done well with ride signs. I like many of their older ones as well, like Millennium Force and Patriot. This one looks great too.

Drove down to the park today with my dad to see if I'm a good enough driver to get a gold pass (and I am...yay!) and snapped a few pictures of Banshee testing from the Great Wolf Lodge parking lot. It looks like there might be employees on it, too.

First time seeing it in person! The first thing I noticed was how huge it was. It's closer so it takes up about as much space on the skyline as Diamondback's lift hill but it's much more compact, so from far away it really looks intimidating on the skyline. Bat's new colors really pop nicely, too.

It's absolutely enormous. Pictures don't do it justice.

Shot of the entire skyline as seen from Great Wolf Lodge. Shame you can't see Diamondback, though. :(

My chin hit the floor when I saw the reflection of sunlight off of a twisted piece of B&M track sitting off in what I saw was just undeveloped woods. I was at around ground (station) level-ish and this was well above my height when I took the picture, but it was way further away from the rest of the ride than I was expecting.

This picture encompasses the entire visible length of ride from GWL (though I cut off some of the dive loop...derp!). Notice how the lift and loop are on the right hand side and the batwing on the left. Now compare the part on the right to the real pictures you've seen. Yeah, the scale of it really starts to set in after seeing this picture.

A goon and a Banshee

We turned around to leave after this shot when my dad told me to look back abruptly. I turned around, saw this, and the next thing I know my camera sounds like a strobe light.

The ride sounds somewhat loud (though it was hard to tell since it was pretty windy) but when it crests the lift, they sound a Banshee scream and I heard it loud and clear. I loved the loud Banshee screams around the construction site when I was there in May and hearing them from the Flight Deck (at the time) station really got a guy excited for it. Love that they not only did it but also that it's really loud.

Banshee, Bat, and orange Delirium

I'm pretty proud of this shot, personally.

It really booked it through the batwing, I expect some good forces here. Nothing near old school, but good. Thing Wild Eagle in the back.

And I will see YOU in three days...

Yup, those do appear to be human legs dangling from the train.

There's a POV on youtube, but it's from a middle row and obviously not legit. Not sure what the etiquette is here for posting non-official videos?

^ Post it ;)

It actually looks like great fun from this video, shame it's filmed by a retard.

That first drop, even from the bad angle of the camera looks great. The pacing also looks pretty good so far!

The one thing I want to see is a view from a middle seat, and see how much if any, it has improved.

Wouldn't appear that trims were on for that run. This is a good thing.
