Kolmården's Djurpark | Wildfire | RMC Wooden Coaster

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

It's been confirmed that the new coaster for 2015 will be a Force 190, the same one as the Busch Gardens parks have installed.

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

Wait... So Robb Alvey was nearly having a **** over this:

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

No that's the one for the kids area Lofty

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

Ok. Just the fact it was posted in here was rather confusing.

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

RCDB now has the ride up as an extreme wood coaster

The park said that he don't have a clue though, and is only guessing, as everybody who knows has signed an NDA.

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

I got my copy of the latest First Drop (European Coaster Club) magazine today; in the news round up it mentioned how Vekoma are now representing RMC in Europe, and said:

"2016 will see the first incarnation that will feature three inversions and a top speed of 110km/h. We will have more details of this amazing looking ride in the next issue."

I'd be willing to bet good money that this is the ride. Which is pretty damn exciting (even if it's not it's still exciting, but irrelevant, news  ). It seems like Kolmardens have let a few people know about it; Alvey, Duane Marden, Justin Garvanovic, but sworn them to secrecy; I'm surprised even this much was allowed out really.

Also are they not exactly the official stats for Outlaw Run? I'd say it only has 2 inversions but rcdb claims 3. It'd be a little less exciting if it is a clone, but somehow I don't see Parks & Resorts Scandinavia doing that.

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

^Well I don't think it'll be a clone. When skimming through the TPR topic Robb stated all sorts of comments that it'll be "ground braking", "worlds first", "change the industry forever" etc. And a clone would certainly not do that!

I got my magazine this friday as well, and the facts matches up a little bit too well for being a mere coincidence... I also believe this is it! :) The question that remain is: what will be so revolutionary with it?

This (if true) will be the first collaboration between RMC and Vekoma. So what can Vekoma contribute with? Among others they have the tilting coaster concept and several different launch systems. Perheps we could see one of those incorporated into the wooden roller coaster?

Friends!
Wow, we've been watching all the comments. I wish we could make them all come true for 2016. WildFire will literally be an earth moving new addition to the park, to any park actually... Can't wait to share more with you.

/Mattias and Johan
Also, I bet this means that there'll be a lot of landscaping involved in the project!

...a top speed of 110km/h

My bet is on a launched 'woodie' then. :D

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

It was presented today in the local newspaper (http://www.nt.se) that the budget for wildfire will be 110 million SEK (~13 mil euro). Don't know if it's of any interest. But it's significantly more than outlaw run, so if the RMC rumor is true we're either looking at a longer layout, heavy landscaping or some other added feature (a launch?).

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

^ Remember though that coasters in America is always cheaper to build due to the different economies. I would not be surprised if we are looking at something very similar to Outlaw Run in size (which would be AWESOME!) maybe a bit longer.

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

^Of course! But Outlaw Run was 10 million dollars, which translates to 65 mil SEK. And I don't think the difference in construction cost is that great. I think Wildfire will have some added value versus Outlaw Run, especially since Rob Alvey is raving about it!

If it'll be an RMC that is. It's still just a rumor. Although a very strong one...

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

Allright guys, 12 hours to go! Alvey's last comment:
You know, for the first time in forever, I think this might be a project that people won't complain about. Ok, realistically, some people will because that's just their nature, but the more I look at it, the more I keep thinking it looks "perfect" and can't think of anything to complain about at all!

The park have said that Duane dosen't know this one, he's only guessing ;)

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

My guess is a simple, long and traditional terrain wooden roller coaster similar in style to Boulder Dash.

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

Could he actually big it up any more? Way to set yourself up for a fall...

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

3 Inversion RMC jobbie it would appear...

As I'm not particularly sold on them, I'm not gooning out over it...

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

I think Outlaw Run looks awesome so this is really great news!

But also, way to rape mother nature there... - It looks like they have some awesome terrain for a terrain hugging woodie but they went with a beast that's gonna tower way over this innocent little safari park... But it looks like they tried.

Nevertheless this is amazing and having such a coaster so close to me isn't something I'm gonna complain about.

Nah, that's just your age :p

That dive loop thingy though? I filled my adult nappy!

Re: Kolmårdens Djurpark Teasing 2016 Project "Wildfire"

It certainly looks a lot more "major" than I could ever have imagined, I love it! I'm so glad that they didn't went with the rumored GCI ride. Were have been getting real spoiled here in Sweden recently!

Their Facebook should prepare for a real **** from anti-zoo people though.

I actually think it meets everything he has said.

1. It will be a game changer, just like Balder, El Toro, Outlaw Run and Goliath. Check.

2. It has the potential to be the best in the world. Check.

3. No one is believing that they are doing it. Check. (seriously, who would have believed this a month ago).

4. It won't feature any gimmicks. Check.
