Music Recommendations

And people are so mean about The Saturdays beause? They are all talented... well other than Frankie who is in there for the looks, but then she was in S Club 8 so she must have done something right lol.
I think it's a well produced song, although I wish I could say the same about the vocals.
Their next single "Higher" is much better anyway!

And YES! I also love Firework, I played it at my party the other day!

My latest obsession: Janelle Monae

So far she's released an EP (Metropolis: Suite 1) and an album (Archandriod: Suites 2 and 3) which follow on from each other, with Janelle taking on an android character. The next album should consist of suites 4 and 5 from the series. It sounds a bit "artsy" and it is, but it's **** ing brilliant.

One of the best videos I've seen in a long time:

If anyone here is a fan of Math rock and 90's Emo, you would like Cats and Cats and Cats They really do a great job of mixing the weird time signatures in math rock with the sound of 90's emo music. Most of their music are instrumentals but the songs that have vocals are devoid of screaming (unlike more 90s emo) and he does have a great voice. The video I posted is an instrumental.

This is not just music. It's a piece of art. A masterpiece.
Do I need to say more..

No, you don't. That's probably the most correct thing I've seen on here in a long time, helped by the fact I listened to the whole Metropolis album this afternoon for the first time in a couple of months, and it was Finally Free [and the Spirit Carries On, of course...] that I was happiest to be reunited with.
However, judging from the length of that youtube clip, it cuts the end off! And the drama isn't nearly as well contextualised without it :)

Also, if that's impressed you, remind me to check out your recommendations in future. I'm currently varying between symphonic metal and wearing out the new Maiden album, but soon enough, I'll be looking for some new :)

^Wow great, I was beginning to think I was the only one :)

It's such an amazing album, it's put together flawlessly though I do tend to find some of the instrumentals to drag but thats no major issue. It's by far the best Dream Theater album sitting on my shelf, it's become a habit of me listening to it through every once in a while, shame they're such an underground band and not really popular because their works are truly outstanding. And I know some of there songs, essentially those verging on ridicule lengths (Octavarium, Six Degrees come into mind), can be a bitch to get into, but once you get the patience you realise what you've been missing out. Both those tracks (Spirit Carries on/Finally Free) are the two of the strongest on the album, I'm a big fan of Fatal Tragedy and Through her Eyes too, not to mention some of the insane drum fills scattered throughout the album, not forgetting Petrucci solo's.

That's why I class Finally Free as a masterpiece, it genuinely fills all the gaps for a great song and more, taking the best out the album and just blowing you away with a complex and incredible finale. I don't want to sound biased but I can't stand bands like YouMeAtSix, when they become so popular for songs which I countlessly get mixed up with several other bands like All Time Low and Scouting For Girls and other pop-punk crap. It's always nice to hear something different and unique, bands like Dream Theater never fail to surprise me :) and I'm always hunting for something new, so I'll be with you on that! :--D

^^ Hey if you're liking Symphonic Metal you should check out Eternal Tears of Sorrow if you haven't hears of them already, I mean this band is pretty much as epic as you can get.

^I quite like that actually, thanks for showing me :)

The vocals don't win me though and the structuring is a little bland compared to Dream Theater but it's about as epic as you can get now-a-days.

I've forgot about this one, it's a great tune, you two might take a favour to these guys. :)

Lightning Bolt

Oh god where do I start with them. Lightning Bolt are a noise rock duo from here in the US. They have a very unique sound and while being noise rock still have a melody and catchy songs. The vocals are recorded in a very unique manor, the vocalist is the Drummer who speaks into a microphone taken from a phone inside a self made mask. The other member is possibly my favorite bassist, he plays these fantastic high notes on his bass and it sounds amazing. They really are the most addicting band ever, I cannot stop listening to them, it's been this way for a couple months now, dont believe me here try for yourself with some of my favorite songs:

Assassins:

Anyone who has played the new Formula 1 game would regocnise the song Clarion Call by Delphic

Anyways I fell in love with the song and checked out the band. They are actually really good and I would really recommend their album Acolyte who likes to try something new. Tis a really good, unique and interesting album.

Thanks for that Mark. :)

I really did love whatever the tune was that is on the game; but having know heard all of it, I can safely say the very tiny clip of it that's on the game is the only decent part of what is an amazingly atrocious piece of music!

I'm seeing these guys the wednesday after Ghosterforce at Nottingham Rock City. They are full of energy Live and their music is addictive. Nice guys too, as they haven't got a huge following they answer a lot of their Facebook stuff :) Always got time for their fans too. Met them at a meet n greet that Katie won at Donington and they were great. OK enough of kissin butt, here's their new single........
