Thanks to Cedar Fair's Fun TVs, this song is now temporarily implanted in my brain. Thanks Cedar Point, Kings Island and Worlds of Fun.

Seeing this dude in Manchester with TesseracT supporting, can't wait at all - shame it is so long away. This beaut of a track has guest vocals by Joe from Gojira.

Might as well post another Tesseract song, this one is from their debut LP (although is basically two EPs). If you like your prog heavy you'll adore this band.

I recently discovered this song and like it quite a lot.

^ very nice!

Meant to post this a while ago but Noel's done some magic on this and it sounds like a new song.

If its not obvious i've been rather obsessed with Swans lately. Thought it might to be fun to post about them and see some reactions.

I'm not even sure how to describe swans as far as genres go. They started out as Noise/No Wave in the 80s, but after their break up and reformation they're more of a noise/progressive/Avant-garde(?) outfit. Either way their songs are very long and can feel pretentious or tedious at times, coupled with some (at times) some really terrible lyrics. But I get the feeling the music is done this way on purpose to make a statement or to keep with the original idea of the band back in the 80s which was to be as dark, noisy, and generally nonsensical as possible.

In my recent obsession ive been more drawn to their newer stuff, specifically their albums To Be Kind and The Glowing Man

Then again i've always loved obscure and pretentious music sooooo, enjoy!!!

The Gaslight Anthem, they are on a hiatus now but they are definitely my favourite group.
Brian Fallon however, released an album while on Hiatus, went to see him live in Manchester. What can I say? Absolutely :censored: amazing. Lyrical masterpieces.[youtubevid]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2RVttubRs4[/youtubevid]

Nabbed the chance to see Augustines in Manchester to so that was fantastic

Finally time for the shameless plug for my cousin over in Ireland with their new single ;)

All these bands have lyrics which have so much meaning when you listen to them, Brian Fallon is a musical genius.

Why do they have to split up? Only got into them last year. Luckily managed to book my ticket to see them yesterday.

Uplifting "contemplate the universe" type song* with some lovely warm production to match. (Minor NSFW for artistic naked people)

*Feel free to read as "pretentious"

Recently found out that ancient, 80's-tastic rockers The Cult are still going.
There's, like, 3 albums worth of stuff that I didn't even know about. This one, off the most recent album 'Hidden City', really caught my attention - Ol' Billy Duffy goes off on one and it's freakin ace!

Do they still sound like a Queen convert band who don't know any Queen songs?

Well... they kinda sound a bit like every other rock band ever, just like they always have. Derivative as fook, naturally, and yeah there's some Queen in there, but there's also some AC/DC, some Zep, some Stones. All the good stuff.

I've not heard their stuff beyond the 80's, but you're right. Only all the bands you mention are the equivalent of vibrant blue, yellow, red, purple, etc. I found that The Cult's mix made them "brown". Just a dull mix of the lot, only with a lead that sounds so Queen at times it's unreal.

Obviously "she sells sanctuary" makes them God-tier though :D

^Not a fan, then?
I was properly into them in the 90's.
I'll admit that they've churned out their fair share of blandness and mediocrity over the years,, but when they get it right, they get it right!

Let's face it though, you probably think "Nyub-nyub" is a good lyric... ;)

There it is!
I wondered how it'd be before you dragged that up again. As it turns out, not long at all :)

I'm only likely to post in one topic a week, but each time, you know it's coming ;)
