I've got the new Biffy album myself too, but I have to say i've not been compelled to listen to it loads yet. I've had two or three listens through, and it sounds good, but there's a poppy edge i'm not convinced about. The Captain is a song I genuinely don't like, its too poppy and bouncy for my liking, its just not them, whereas That Golden Rule was much more like what you'd expect from them, even if it was 'Living's A Problem...' in reverse... So far, i'd still rank Puzzle ahead of it (but that's open to change with more listens), because Puzzle, whilst still much more commercial than earlier stuff (inevitably), it still had an epic, truly emotive edge to it, which i've not yet unearthed in Only Revolutions. Best album's still between Infinity Land & Blackened Sky though.
On the subject of new music, and marginally disappointing new music at that too, I downloaded the new Editors album a couple of weeks back, on the back of hearing the first single Papillon, and they've gone all boring and synthy, how rubbish. Papillon is excellent, its got the usual dark heart of an Editors song, but taking it in a newer (or older, with the 80s synths) direction, and the title track In This Light & Of This Evening is also excellent, if very different, and horrendously dark, before breaking down into some brilliant guitar & massive drums near the end (used in the first episode of the new Top Gear series). Songs like Bricks & Mortar, which was much hyped before the album release, are just a bit ploddy and electronic-ish indie with nothing of note though, which from a band I would've classed as one of my favourites after the last album, was rather disappointing.
One of the good ones - the 'video' seems to be a bit tempramental though.
