Six Flags Great Adventure + GASM Last Day ERT

Roller Poster
I went to Six Flags Great Adventure yesterday with my friend Cal for the Great American Scream Machine's last day and ERT after hours to get the last rides on it. I also wanted to up my coaster count from 90. Anyway here it goes...

Rides:
Houdini's Great Escape - 1

Coasters:
Kingda Ka - 4
Rolling Thunder (Left) - 2
Bizarro - 1
Runaway Mine Train - 1
Dark Knight - 1
Batman: The Ride - 1
Nitro - 1
Skull Mountain - 1
Blackbeard's Lost Treasure Train - 1
El Toro - 1
Superman - Ultimate Flight - 1
Great American Scream Machine - 4

Houdini's Great Escape is a very interesting ride. You don't actually go upside down but it sure feels like it. I want to go on it again. I can't believe there was no line at all for it.

Kingda Ka had no line the first two times I went on it. I had never been on it, so it was pretty awesome to me. I had only been on Top Thrill Dragster before that. I really wish there was a more full ride element to Kingda Ka so that it wasn't just a launch up a tower with a hill. I still went on it 4 times. One complaint about Kingda Ka was that I had neckbanging going on during one of my rides and that hurt haha

Rolling Thunder was smoother than I remember it. I had a good amount of fun on that and got a reride. They were running both sides dueling yesterday so that was fun.

Bizarro had no effects running and it was the same as it was when I rode it as Medusa. Pretty good coaster. I like kicking about.

Runaway Mine Train was pretty painful. I semi-regretted going on it, but hey I got a coaster credit.

Dark Knight had very nice theming, but it was still just a wild mouse. I wish they would have made a custom wild mouse with a lot more unexpected elements. The designs are always pretty predictable.

Batman: The Ride was running REALLY FAST. The positive Gs were hurting. I love going fast though!

Nitro was also running very fast. That was the shortest amount of time it ever took to ride Nitro that I can remember. It was running 3 trains which was amazing.

Skull Mountain isn't bad, but the girl behind me screaming the whole time kind of ruined it for me. She screamed at the brake run.

Blackbeard's Lost Treasure Train was fun. I kept shifting from side to side in my seat and I had to hold on because my restraint was practically one clicked and I didn't feel like dying on a junior coaster.

El Toro is probably my favorite woodie now. I had no idea how smooth it was going to be. I loved the steep drop and all the crazy banking. Can't wait to ride again, just wish the wait was not as long.

Superman: Ultimate Flight was pretty painful. We also had an idiot next to us saying things like "Did you hear what happened on Superman? Somebody died" We corrected her, but she kept talking about how scared she was. The pretzel loop hurts. What can I say, the flying coaster thing lost its novelty after the first time I did it.

I never went on the Great American Scream Machine before yesterday, which is pretty funny because it was it's last day. I rode it for the first time during the ERT Event. There were 50 ACErs there, a few contest winners, and people who paid for seats on ebay and the Six Flags site, besides all of the upper and junior management. They had cake, popcorn, drinks, and hot dogs with fixins for us. I'm a vegan so I couldn't have anything but a bottle of water, but that didn't matter to me. They had stiltwalkers entertaining everyone and a band. It was pretty cool of Six Flags to pull out all the stops for this. There was also a silent auction of construction and regular photos on big posters. GASM really hurt my head, unfortunately, so I only was able to do 4 rides without getting sick from the head pain.

All Pics By Me (Russell Heiman) please don't steal!

^ the last ride ever going through a corkscrew before the brake run

Thanks for sharing GASM's last run with us. I went & paid my respects a couple of weeks ago. Doesn't surprise anyone that GASM was painful, but I'm glad you mentioned that Ka also hurt. It's another reason why TTD is so much better than Ka.
And don't worry about anyone here using your photos. Should anyone have the need, they will ask your permission first.
I also hope you don't mind my editing your post to make the photos visable.

No problem! Yeah, TTD didn't hurt one bit.

I don't mind you editing my post! I actually had the pictures visible and I think another mod changed it to links lol
I miss being a mod here, especially when we got to deal with pesky spammers haha

^ Yah, they were visible first, but they were ginormous :p .

I enjoyed your report though, it's kinda dumb that they had the supposd last run a few weeks ago, and then changed it to now. But still, it's not gonna be terribly missed I doubt, though I never like to see a coaster turned to scrap metal :p .

Yep, the images are too huge, so they've modded back again

I can read the topic now because it takes less than 10 minutes to load :)

They took all of 3 seconds to load for me. You Brits & your crappy ISPs.

While true, a lot of people now also view CF using smart phones (including me)... Several Gb of images is not fun over a mobile network.

Plus, it makes your browser work bloody hard keeping the images in memory and slows it all down. All that happens is the images are resized anyway - so it's best to just make them 800x600 in the first place :p

That's odd that you found RMT and Superman painful. They both might be a bit BORING, but I've never felt pain on them. And yeah, Kingda Ka's turn on the way down always gives me neck banging, I hate it.

Nice pictures of GASM though, thanks for posting them. :D

RMT is an old Arrow, so you can understand the potential pain. Superman was painful in the pretzel and they can't load and unload very fast at SFGAdv so we waited on the brake run a while haha

I actually got a huge bruise on Kingda Ka. Here is a photo.

Oh wow. That bruise is REALLY nasty. Like, worse than anything I've ever come off with. I'm sorry about that.

And yeah, Superman is a terribly inefficient ride, and the ride ops don't help. Being stuck out there is kind of relaxing, though. I could fall asleep like that.

Kingda Ka did that to you? I guess people weren't joking about it being rough in other seats besides the front. I've only ridden it in the front so, that seems odd to me.

I knew I was going to get a bruise after but I had no idea how nasty it would be. Don't worry, I still loved Kingda Ka anyway. It's a cool battle scar to show off to people haha

I wish I could fall asleep, but my neck was hurting in that position. Superman wasn't terrible though. I mean, how painful can a B&M really be. I think they might have been running Superman fast. All the B&M's felt fast that day!

I've gotten very bad bruises from Ka's spiral in the back, but nothing like him. Those OTSRs really dig into you. Mavvy does it too, only thing I hate about it. :/

Well, I've never felt pain on a B&M, except for once in Medusa's front row, which I found odd. And I know they were running Kingda Ka fast when I was there, speaking of fast rides, because I was blown away by my ride on that thing. It was right after it had reopened due to something being broken (surprise huh?).

I got that bruise from trying to throw my hands up in the second to last row in the spiral. Bad idea haha

Six Flags is a bit rough on their rides.
