What's new

"Terminator" Woodie for SFMM

^Well that was a high quality post. Excited by what? Typing two words?

Please try and do better than that....

I dont know why people make such a big deal out of coaster names tbh.

Is the ride good? yes or no so the name adds nothing, its just a name. Why is Ninja called Ninja, it has nothing to do with Ninja's does it? :)

At least the name relates to one of the biggest money making franchises ever and not one that is just about over.

The new film will be a huge hit, why? well its Terminator and just about everyone who liked the films will see it. The new coaster is just advertising for the film nothing more nothing less.

Its also advertising, except the other way around. They will get more people going there to look at the new "Terminator" ride. That's why they did it. TBH I'm excited about this, it should be good.

Its going to get called just Terminator anyway. No-one'll bother with the full title. It'll be the same as Nemesis Inferno, or Mr. Six' Pandemonium (until they actually shortened it), so there's no point worrying about the title really. At least its a tie-in with something soon-to-be topical, so it will be relevant.

Sorry.
I am really excited. Its going to be a really kick-ass ride. We all know it

RCDB has construction pics!
http://rcdb.com/m/ig4173.htm

And it lists the name as: Terminator Salvation (I think there will be a (tm) in there too): The coaster!

SAW - your name is far better than this one's.

January 17th, 2009 Update!

So I get a call from GCI yesterday "Terminator has gone VERTICAL! Go get pics!" And of course since I always do what I'm told, I now bring you a new Terminator construction update! Yes, the ride is now vertical! YAY!!! I'm told that about 70 bents will be in place by Monday and a lot of progress is going to happen very quickly.

Here are the photos from today:
terminator_011709_01.jpg

"Please excuse our mess - the Governator will be arriving soon!"

terminator_011709_02.jpg

Ahh, looks like one of the older structures at the park, the shooting gallery, has been removed to make way for...OMG...what is that I see?

terminator_011709_03.jpg

YES! Terminator has gone VERTICAL!!!

terminator_011709_04.jpg

Makes you wonder if these structures may not be around much longer now that we know a Cold Stone is going in at the front of the park and there has been the hint of new bathrooms on the horizon.

terminator_011709_05.jpg

This view will once again have a wooden structure behind it soon!

terminator_011709_06.jpg

Bents started going up on Friday, and here is what has been done so far.

terminator_011709_07.jpg

As you can see, it's Saturday, and bents are still being put up.

terminator_011709_08.jpg

They put this one in place while I was here taking pictures.

terminator_011709_09.jpg

Ahh, those little blocks of wood make great merchandise! Just stamp the Terminator logo on it and you've got something that every coaster enthusiast will buy just like Holiday World and other parks do! (hint, hint) One man's left over wood is a gold mine to coaster geeks!

terminator_011709_10.jpg

Internet world, meet Mr. Small Crane...hopefully we'll see his cousin Mr. Big Crane in some future updates.

terminator_011709_11.jpg

Another shot of the OMG VERTICAL CONSTRUCTION!!!

terminator_011709_12.jpg

These guys are just waiting their turn.

terminator_011709_13.jpg

More Popsicle sticks.

terminator_011709_14.jpg

Yup, the back area of the park is looking wooden again!

terminator_011709_15.jpg

And now...all the photos you just saw...but from the SKY TOWER!! Oooooh...

terminator_011709_16.jpg

Hmm...bents being prepared to go up, or alien spaceship landing spot...you decide!

terminator_011709_17.jpg

That's a LOT of popsicle sticks!

terminator_011709_18.jpg

I like how it just looks like a "pile of bents" just thrown there! LOL! (We see you nice and newly painted Deja Vu!)

terminator_011709_19.jpg

Here's a nice overview of the vertical construction, the alien landing pad, newly painted Deja Vu, the pile 'o bents, and lots of popsicle sticks.

terminator_011709_20.jpg

GRRR!!! A spaceship had landed and taken off and we *just* missed it!

terminator_011709_21.jpg

Goodbye shooting gallery! Hopefully this area will eventually be the new entrance to the Terminator ride. I think that would be awesome!

terminator_011709_22.jpg

You can really see how much room is already opened up and how much more room could be created if the other two buildings came down.

terminator_011709_23.jpg

Hmm...eventually cables there?

terminator_011709_24.jpg

Another overview. As you can see the ride is going to be BIG!

terminator_011709_25.jpg

And finally, one last look at the progress. I have a feeling that we'll see a lot of work by next weekend!

terminator_011709_26.jpg

And yes, Deja Vu looks GREAT!

terminator_011709_27.jpg

Not much activity here.

terminator_011709_28.jpg

We see you Riddler's train!

terminator_011709_29.jpg

It's nice to see that the Sky Tower museum is still looking great!

terminator_011709_30.jpg

If you know what coaster this is and where it currently is operating, email Dan the answer! [email protected]

terminator_011709_31.jpg

We like the more flags, more fun guy, but who doesn't miss Mr. Six?

terminator_011709_32.jpg

Still have a bit of work to do on the Q-Bot area. Looking forward to this getting done!

--Robb

Great pix Robb! Thanks for posting. It's sure worth watching the progress from this point on. I'm looking forward to the next update to see just how fast this baby's going up.

January 25th, 2009 Update

terminator_012509_05.jpg

Today we were able to go backstage to get a bit closer to the latest progress. Here you can see the turn around from last week is nearly done!

terminator_012509_06.jpg

Those popsicle sticks have finally found their place in life!

terminator_012509_07.jpg

The ride is coming along VERY fast. That's quite a bit put up just in the past 7 days.

terminator_012509_08.jpg

Some close up shots for Joe.

terminator_012509_09.jpg

"It's the end of the ride as we know it..."

terminator_012509_10.jpg

There's more there, it's just cloaked using T-2000 futuristic technology.

terminator_012509_11.jpg

More closeups for Joe!

terminator_012509_12.jpg

Getting tired of looking at the turn around? No? GOOD!

terminator_012509_13.jpg

Radar dish to communicate with other life forms. (Terminators need this kind of equipment)

terminator_012509_14.jpg

Another look at, yep, the turn around!

terminator_012509_15.jpg

More popsicle sticks waiting for love.

terminator_012509_16.jpg

Hey look! There's another section going up!

terminator_012509_17.jpg

Another overview of the middle section.

terminator_012509_18.jpg

Here is where the Shooting Gallery once stood. I'm told this will be the entrance area to the coaster.

terminator_012509_19.jpg

A bridge will someday be built here.

terminator_012509_20.jpg

Bridgey, Bridge, Bridge, Bridge, Bridge.

terminator_012509_21.jpg

Weather was FANTASTIC to be out taking dirt pictures today!

terminator_012509_22.jpg

More Dirt. More Popsicle Sticks. Cones, Cones, Cones...

terminator_012509_23.jpg

Mud...why did it have to be mud.

terminator_012509_25.jpg

Here you can see Terminator starting to sneak up over the fence.

terminator_012509_24.jpg

This building will soon be the new Johnny Rockets Snakes and Pies...errr...Shakes and Fries!

terminator_012509_24b.jpg

And the Ice Cream Shop at the front of the park will be a full service Cold Stone! (The Cold Stone at the back of the park is staying, too!)

terminator_012509_27.jpg

The Sky Tower offers an awesome view of the progress.

terminator_012509_28.jpg

There's that new little section hiding behind the freshly painted Deja Vu!

terminator_012509_29.jpg

Popsicle Sticky sticks.

terminator_012509_30.jpg

The lumber supply is getting lower and lower (and Leon's getting LARGER!!!)

terminator_012509_31.jpg

Looks awesome!!!

terminator_012509_32.jpg

The little section being built. It's so cute! You just want to reach out and pet it...c'mon go ahead...pet your screen! Do it! In fact, take a picture of you petting your screen and EMAIL DAN with the picture: [email protected] (include your mailing address with your picture and we'll send you a TPR Bag-of-Crap!)

terminator_012509_33.jpg

I'm TELLING you! This whole Terminator theme is just a cover up for Goliath 2!

terminator_012509_34.jpg

Once this area is cleared of wood, it would make the PERFECT place for a Terminator Opening Day Campout (hint, hint!)

terminator_012509_35.jpg

Here's an overview of the entire site.

terminator_012509_36.jpg

Traffic Jam.

terminator_012509_37.jpg

I haven't taken an overview "park photo" in a while...so here's one! Enjoy!

terminator_012509_38.jpg

Arrow Fun Junction.

terminator_012509_01.jpg

Q-Bot area still looking like two evil faces under construction.

terminator_012509_02.jpg

The Yo-Yo gets a bit of love.

terminator_012509_03.jpg

New for 2009! Fresh Paint!

terminator_012509_04.jpg

It's nice to see the older rides getting some care.

terminator_012509_38b.jpg

And finally we leave you with the Customer Service Policy. Words to live by! Until next week....

A big THANK YOU goes out to Six Flags Magic Mountain for giving us access to take these photos.

Thanks again Robb! The ride is looking almost a good as the weather.
Also liked the REM reference. :--D

February 1st, 2009 Update

terminator_020109_03.jpg

Hey! What's that peeking through the trees? I see wood!

terminator_020109_04.jpg

If you look real hard you can see the Terminator!

terminator_020109_05.jpg

Here's that turn from last week. Looks about the same.

terminator_020109_06.jpg

But here's a close up because it's awesome.

terminator_020109_07.jpg

Maxim sponsors the crane!

terminator_020109_08.jpg

The real work this week has been done on the "deadman turnaround" which will be near the station.

terminator_020109_09.jpg

This will be the second highest spot on the ride.

terminator_020109_10.jpg

Here's a slightly different angle of the "deadman turnaround."

terminator_020109_12.jpg

Wow! The animatronics are looking AWESOME!!! =)

terminator_020109_13.jpg

This part of the ride will be connected to the first drop.

terminator_020109_14.jpg

And yes, Terminator is now changing the back of the park!

terminator_020109_15.jpg

Ahh, once again a woodie takes over the back corner of the park!

terminator_020109_16.jpg

"Hello! How are you doing?"

terminator_020109_17.jpg

Just in case you didn't get enough photos of the Deadman Turnaround, here's another one!

terminator_020109_18.jpg

OMG! Zoom in on that wood!!!

terminator_020109_19.jpg

Another close up for you all.

terminator_020109_20.jpg

I'm telling you, those little blocks will make GREAT merchandise!

terminator_020109_21.jpg

And now you can see how Terminator is changing the skyline!

terminator_020109_22.jpg

Hey, what is that I see?!?!?

terminator_020109_23.jpg

Thanks to Magic Mountain's 75% off sale, KidTums scores a $12 giant Domo-Kun!!!

terminator_020109_24.jpg

Hey everyone, don't forget about Thomas.

terminator_020109_25.jpg

DOMO-KUN! ATTACK!!!

terminator_020109_26.jpg

"One of these things is not like the other...one of these things does not belong..."

terminator_020109_27.jpg

We would have ridden this stump, but it was closed for maintenance. :(

terminator_020109_28.jpg

The Frog Hopper was next on the agenda...

terminator_020109_29.jpg

..and as you can see it's KidTums APPROVED!!!

terminator_020109_30.jpg

Canyon Blaster has recently changed it's height restriction, which is fine as these things happen, but parents please take note....

terminator_020109_31.jpg

...because there is no sign out front to tell you this and the first time you see a height restriction sign is AFTER you've already waited in line! Hopefully this will get addressed soon.

terminator_020109_31b.jpg

At the park entrance, if you need your exercise, follow this sign to Batman The Ride, if you want to get to the coaster quicker, go the opposite way! =)

terminator_020109_32.jpg

Yay! Terminator banners have started to appear! Looking forward to riding it this May!

--Robb

I'm always amazing at how fast some coasters go up, I feel like it should take so much longer. Those are great pictures, sounds like it'll be amazing!

February 15th, 2009 Update!

terminator_021509_05.jpg

Here is the Aerial view as seen by the Cyberdyne HK Drone (aka Sky Tower View)

terminator_021509_03.jpg

Looks like this turn is fairly complete and ready for some track!

terminator_021509_01.jpg

Here you can see the dead man turn...not too many Popsicle sticks left laying around now!

terminator_021509_02.jpg

Remember when that whole back area was filled with Popsicle sticks just a few short weeks ago?

terminator_021509_31.jpg

Mr. Big Crane is lifting another bent into place.

terminator_021509_32.jpg

It's cool to see how they are working on two sections of the ride at once!

terminator_021509_33.jpg

I see some steel has been put into place for some of the cross overs.

terminator_021509_34.jpg

How about a nice closeup of that overpass?

terminator_021509_35.jpg

Another look at the Dead Mans Party Turn, Deja Vu featuring DJ Jazzy Jeff and some fresh paint, and a little cameo by Mr. Big Crane.

terminator_021509_37.jpg

You're looking at the future Terminator Salvation: The Ride entrance! I like the little make-shift bridge they've got going on!

terminator_021509_09.jpg

From the midway, Terminator is really taking shape!

terminator_021509_10.jpg

Each week the wood seems to get more and more dense.

terminator_021509_11.jpg

Terminator only went vertical just under 1 month ago and look how much is already done!

terminator_021509_12.jpg

Cyberdyne Systems crew is inspecting the ride.

terminator_021509_14.jpg

There's that new brand spanking new bent going into place!

terminator_021509_15.jpg

I have a feeling there will be a pop of airtime here!

terminator_021509_17.jpg

The Dead Mans Party turn almost looks bigger than Deja Vu! =)

terminator_021509_18.jpg

Looks like that alien transmitter has been covered in wood! Those Cyberdyne drones know how to disguise themselves!

terminator_021509_19.jpg

Two giant curves!

terminator_021509_21.jpg

Even on a Sunday these guys are still going at it.

terminator_021509_22.jpg

Terminator Salvation: The Ride, a yellow thing, a red thing, and a silver box.

terminator_021509_23.jpg

This area is going to look so much better with a GOOD woodie behind it!

terminator_021509_24.jpg

"It's a dead mans party...who could ask for more..."

terminator_021509_25.jpg

Another view of wooden sticks.

terminator_021509_26.jpg

Mr. Small Crane is still hanging around.

terminator_021509_28.jpg

But Mr. Big Crane is the center of attention today!

terminator_021509_29.jpg

I really, REALLY hope they get rid of the "Cyclone Bay" signs!!! Anyway, that's today's update! Hope you've enjoyed it. We will have more next week!

--Robb

That looks amazing, first I have seen of it, so thanks for the photos! I rode Psyclone and thank **** it's gone, terrible ride. Looking forward to more pictures, :D

GCI never fails to create a good looking coaster, I just hope that SFMM do something about those large concrete areas, since that just looks foul.

That's looking good, better than Cyclone anyway! Also where does 'dead man turn' get its name from? I've never heard that term used before.

February 21st Update!

terminator_022109_04.jpg

Mr. Six is BACK!!! That's right! Today's update starts with something more important than Terminator...the return of the old dancing guy and I have to say I'm glad to have him back!

terminator_022109_06.jpg

Anyway, on to some Terminator photos! It's a Saturday and these guys never get a day off...it's because they are ROBOTS! Duh!

terminator_022109_07.jpg

You wanted sexy curves? You got 'em!

terminator_022109_09.jpg

The bottom of the structure sure looks dense! I guess it needs to be with the California earthquakes.

terminator_022109_10.jpg

These two sections keep looking better and better.

terminator_022109_11.jpg

More Terminators hard at work.

terminator_022109_12.jpg

You can easily spot the Terminators since they all wear bright orange vests!

terminator_022109_13.jpg

See!

terminator_022109_14.jpg

Here you can see the new bridge that will be the rides entrance is starting to get worked on.

terminator_022109_15.jpg

And another look at the future bridge.

terminator_022109_16.jpg

And OMG! Another look at the future bridge!

terminator_022109_17.jpg

Yeah, I know we've seen this before, but doesn't it look better closer up?

terminator_022109_19.jpg

We see you Mr. First Drop getting installed!

terminator_022109_22.jpg

Here's a good overview of the progress this week.

terminator_022109_24.jpg

Mud...why did it have to be mud?

terminator_022109_25.jpg

I think by West Coast Bash the ride will almost be done!

terminator_022109_26.jpg

This Terminator update, along with the Bryan and Adam Show is brought to you by delicious, refreshing, tasty, and fizzy Coca-Cola.

terminator_022109_36.jpg

OMG! SIGNATURE SHOT!!!

terminator_022109_34.jpg

You can see a lot more of the first drop has gone up since last week.

terminator_022109_35.jpg

Popsicle Sticky Sticks.

terminator_022109_37.jpg

Hello Goliath Sign!

terminator_022109_38.jpg

Don't try to hide! We see you behind Deja Vu!

terminator_022109_41.jpg

The new entrance area from the Sky Tower.

terminator_022109_18.jpg

Across from the Deja Vu entrance is the new Johnny Rockets Snakes & Pies! Sorry, I mean Shakes and Fries.

terminator_022109_32.jpg

Thrill Shot was running today!

terminator_022109_33.jpg

Look! Dueling Arrows!

terminator_022109_39.jpg

Rapids is still down for the count. Looks like a lot of work is being done.

terminator_022109_40.jpg

The boats wait patiently to go back home.

terminator_022109_45.jpg

TPR Member Sighting! Crazy4Coasters and Itnotfair. And no, they aren't the cute couple as they look like here, they just both happened to be at the park at the same time!

terminator_022109_46.jpg

Jeff was also here doing his "I look older than dirt" impression.

terminator_022109_48.jpg

We also got a sneak peek inside the new Cold Stone at the front of the park.

terminator_022109_51.jpg

This location will have mix-ins just like all the others!

terminator_022109_49.jpg

Ooooh....yummy!

terminator_022109_50.jpg

"I will take Butterfingers and Reese's please!"

terminator_022109_52.jpg

Wow! Her and I have something in common. Maybe I should get her number! (BTW, Hi Dino!)

terminator_022109_54.jpg

Don't forget to get your 2009 Play Pass!

terminator_022109_53.jpg

And if you are local to Six Flags Magic Mountain and want to check out working at the park, stop by the 2009 Job Fair!

terminator_022109_47.jpg

Which one is older?

See you next week!

--Robb

LOL at Jeff's shirt.
This is looking pretty damn fine! And Deja Vu looks awesome with the new paint job.
