What's new

The Games we play...

The racing game I'm waiting for at the moment is rFactor 2. Sequal to rFactor which is a very realistic racing simulation. I haven't ventured into using a clutch either, but my wheel only has two pedals. Unfortunately, there's no release date for it, but at least that means they're not going to rush out a buggy game to hit a deadline.

Completed Ico last night. What a pig, an hour's gameplay from the last save point???

Superb stuff anyway and I'm still in a state of stress about it all. It's great to have finally completed it, the PS3 version seems either more forgiving, or it's easier due to lack of massive loading pauses when you die.

SOTC next, but in the mean time, like Sony gave me Speedball 2 for free? What? They did??? OMG! SPEEDBALL 2!!!

It's bigger than it used to be on the Amiga on a 14" CRT screen ;)

Now, can I remember how to play it. Note to whoever converted it, Disk next please... And Stunt Car Racer!!!

Started playing Dead Island as I got it free with my new Xbox, am really enjoying it, fighting off zombies with a baseball bat with a nail is pretty amusing. Maps are great, shame there are so many 'thug' zombies about!

BITMAP BROS!!!

Is it a port of the original with the same graphics and awesome intro song and ICE CREAM!

It looks the same, but I can't remember the intro. I've not heard ICE CREAM yet, but if it doesn't I'll be deleting it.

Xenon 2 next then?

Rented X-Men Destiny from Redbox last night. I've played some of the other X-Men games before and I honestly didn't like them. The game itself is interesting as you get to chose your powers, enhance said powers with X-Genes found laying about from other mutants, and increase the 'strength' of said powers throih the use of 'leveling'.

Only con is that it seems really freaking short. In about 3.5 - 4 hours of gameplay, I got through the first two missions (with extra challenges and exploring added in) and about half the third...i think.

It has some seemingly nice replay value as there are diferent courses of action you can do in regards to how your mutant evolves.

Overall, from what I have played, I would give it a 6/10 for now.

Switching between the hideouts'...

I fell out with games really, my attention span just isn't what it was when i was a kid!

But... I'm beyond excited about playing the new zelda. It's got one the best graphical styles in games out there atm, It looks like a studio ghibli film and the music's beautiful. Not to mention every zelda game has had the most satisfying control system of it's era imo. It's the only reason I never sold my wii 3 years ago.

Ni No Kuni - Studio Ghibli's game is coming out in North America, which hopefully means Europe too.
... THIS looks like a Studio Ghibli film ;)

I keep trying with Zelda, but I find it them the dullest, most tedious games in existence. I know I'm in a minority here, but a happy one

the intro.

Nostalgic! I used to have Speedball 2 bundled in the same box as Cadaver. It scared me :C

It's all coming back to me... I've not played the career mode, so I don't know - however it isn't on the start section I don't think (I only loaded it up quickly once as Ico was calling and is calling again).

Yeah, if that's missing, then I'm very sad...

I just started playing today. I got to the bit with the flying spirit monster things. They're well annoying! Is the only way to beat them just to keep mashing square for ages?

But yeah, I am enjoying it xD

:|

EDIT: Welp, I just finished SOTC for the 7 or 8th time, can't remeber which. Just as good as the rest of the play thoughs. I did find it to be a good example on 3-D working, especially the opening menu screen, It just increases the scale of the whole game.

Edit 2: Onto ICO now. ****'s so cash.

Well Forza 4 has been out for 2 days now, and i'm already hooked. t's nearly perfect, there is a lot to do other than just the career racing, you have rivals mode, autovista, club, online. Enough to keep me busy for years to come. I love the player cards, and the car list is basically perfect. THe improved physics and lighting engine as well make a massive difference in game play from Forza 3. There is however, one HUGE problem, the AI. They seemed only programmed to race around the track and nothing more, they have no recognition of the human player, and will ram into you, or spin you out, and it's annoying. Despite that one problem, where the solution is simple....go online. It's still racing game of the year....no.....game of the year.

10/10

Battlefield 3 beta, glitchy as hell but that is why it's a beta. Gonna bust out the lube when the actual game comes out though.

^Racing games will never be the game of the year in my opinion. Kinda like NASCAR will never be the king of sports.

^ I gave up on the BETA after a few days, not because it was rubbish, but because I didn't want to unlock loads of weapons and get used to them and then have to unlock them all over again in the actual game!

I read an article the other day that said the Beta is completely different to the final code. The game is much less harsh, so tactically it's better (it takes longer to kill somebody and support is required tactically as ammo is required a lot more) and weapon balance is really diverse beyond each weapon type and side.

Apparently a completely different game to play and the guy couldn't work out why they released the B3 Beta when it's so different to the actual game.

Only just found out about these through the PS Store. WANT!

Only problem is there about £800, for something thats possibly just a gimmick, oh and you look like a bellend wearing them. :(

Still somehow still really tempted, although you could buy an extremely good 3D TV for that amount of money.

WE ARE VR!

And uh, trying to think of other 90's TV shows that were obsessed with virtual reality. I know of The Lawnmower Man but ain't ever seen it. So all I remember is VR Troopers...

Ngh already got a 3d tv. Specifically for SOTC & ICO, it waz well wurf it.
