How long did it take to recover after the last valley? Selfishly asking as attending TP tomorrow
It valleyed on Wednesday 19th June. They had the train off a couple of days later. It reopened on one train operations on the 22nd then was back on two trains by the 23rd for their "Golden Day" event.

It stalled on 19th June, reopened on 22nd (on one train), and then back to two on 23rd.

The recovery period potentially took slightly longer as they had to create a concrete base for the crane equipment to sit on. With that now in place, it shouldn't take too long. It's more a case of when they can get the equipment in, the time to do it (as it may require Saw to not being running to remove the train) and what they what to do prior to re-opening.

I don't know the current state of play, but if they remove it quick enough, it certainly could reopen today on one train if the park chose to do so.

At least one car of Hyperia is still on the track. Saw is currently closed, so they will probably remove the remaining car(s) soon so the crane gets away.
It is advertised in the park that Hyperia is closed all day.

All these issues have put me off visiting the park this year. Having visited Thorpe more times than I can count I'd be going purely for Hyperia.
I know it's not the park's fault and they're doing the best they can, but the time and cost involved in visiting Thorpe now from up north means I will have to hang on a while longer.

Blimey, I don't think we could've had better luck timing the live. On either end of two long closures! Gutted for those who have been spited by it, really hope the park are able to sort the issues so they don't have a steel curtain-esque year-long nightmare on their hands (not that I expect them to ofc).

On the upside, all this activity means the thread's quite likely to reach 200 pages soon!

This is unfortunate as I imagine there’s a bunch of people in the same boat. It would really suck if they don’t get the attendance boost they’re hoping for and that then means less future investment.

Yeah, stay away, we remember what you did to Saw ;) ;)

According to the app, it’s reopened for the Fright Night press night.

If I recall correctly train 1 was the train that valleyed back in June, and it was the one that valleyed again yesterday.

Wow, quick turnaround!

Not that it might not still break down, valley, or have other technical issues it probably shouldn't have but I am quite impressed with how they keep turning it around. Even during the Live, it broke down multiple times and was back up pretty fast. I just recall saying to people that I could finally relax after getting on it the first time!

Just feel bad for all those who have missed out, it's just really bad luck when that happens.

Hyperia successfully opened today at 11:50, with one train operation, it instantly it had a 3+ hour queue, the nerves watching it test run with less and less dummies was very real.

It appears that all of 5 of the cars from Train 1 are still in the compound area around by Trailers, minus the zero car shell.

I was thinking - Is it just poor design from Mack the fact this has valleyed twice in that element now?

Surely there is the technology these days to design an element and take into consideration all the different variables, temperatures, weather, train weight, etc?

The fact that on the drop before brackets were installed for trims as a precaution makes me wonder if Mack wasn’t really sure of the speed this element would be taken at?

It was only 9 years ago a Merlin coaster valleying was one of the main contributors to one of the biggest rollercoaster accidents in the UK, which must make Merlin even more wary about Hyperia being susceptible to valleying.

I don’t know it just seems like poor design?

Following it’s weather delayed opening yesterday Hyperia did shutdown at roughly 2 and reopen at 5:30 after re-testing with dummies, but because of this they didn’t close its queue early, which considering it was only on one train, I dread to think what time the Hyperia rides team got home last night, but reckon they would have been fearing quite a big backlash if they did close it early.

A night ride in the back car (row 9) was an absolutely fantastic end to the first night of frights!

It's interesting as amongst enthusiasts, it feels like there's a certain level of reluctance to blame Mack. If this had been pretty much any other manufacturer (probably excluding B&M), forums and social media would be filled with jokes at the manufacturer's expense. But Mack seem to have been immune.

But yes, between this and some of the rough reviews Voltron has been getting, there must surely be - at the very least - a concerned eyebrow being raised in Mack's direction within the industry.

I do wonder how much this has damaged Mack's reputation in the industry, It has to have had an impact.
I'm thinking nowhere near as much as Zamperla with Top Thrill 2.

Apart from the valleying incidents and that extended closure, Hyperia has ran relatively reliably with a similar amount of downtime to the other coasters at the park.

Voltron also had a valleying incident so maybe a bit of a reputation for occasional valleying at most for Mack 🤔🤔🤔

Had my smoothest rides on Hyperia yesterday, as well as my first ride in the front row. It's definitely riding smoother since it last stalled. A very solid ride experience in the front row also, though I slightly prefer it further towards the back of the train for the intensity.
