"Now Showing"

'Just Cause'

Starring Laurence Fishburne and Sean Connery.

Right, before I watched this film I made the mistake of checking it's rating on Internet Movie Database, which I think has underrated this film of controversy, action and misjudgement.

So, I went and watched the film with my hopes prepared for a dissapointing storyline and ineffective scenes armed with **** dialogue.
I was wrong. I think this film kicks off with slow strands of action and builds up a very controversial and action packed storyline, which glued me thoroughly to my sexy new tv screen.
Fishburne, in my opinion does a good job creating such a mysterious character, you never really know what type of protagonist he is till the action kicks in full throttle.

This film for me deserves an 8/10

Mars Attacks!

Man I love this film still, its just a great spoof film, soooo many film references in it! I love it :D Just love the irony of peace loving hippy's causing a war, haha. It ends really weird, not the singing makes the brains explode, just the Tom Jones singing, thats weird (but is like Dr Strangelove).

8/10

Saw II

Saw it last night, thought it was a pretty good sequel!

SPOILER..

I liked the idea of Jigsaw being completely exposed and being one of the characters with the most scenes. I liked the traps as well. The syringe one wasn't bad, but the oven one was really quite good. It didn't make me cringe or anything as much as the first film, but the neck slicing wasn't that nice.

Overall, a great film, but not as good as Saw I.

8/10.

^ Ah, Saw II was the last really good one in the series or whatever. Personally though, I didn't like the stove trap that much because he could've just reached for the handle when the fire wasn't that big, and he would've gotten out. But, three was good, if lacking a bit, but it did have good traps and wasn't too confusing so that redeemed it in my eyes. Four was just kinda crappy and very confusing, but I'll have to watch it again when I get the chance to make a final decision. Five? We'll have to see, but I don't have super high hopes.

^ Wow, what an in depth review.

Seriously though, I was gonna see that, because I thought it looked good, but considering all of the crappy reviews it's getting I think I'm better off to wait until it's released on DVD.

What exactly is wrong with it?

Quarantine is ****. Once again the Americans have spoiled a really good horror movie.
Go seek out the original Rec it's amazing. :)

^ I think the filming style if really good though. Depending on the type of movie, it definitely increases excitement and gives it a sense of realism.

Ahh yes, how could we forget, the Americans ruin everything.

Yes, and my girlfriend thought the same.

"OMG MARCUS! WE HAVE TO SEE THIS!"

When I saw previews, I KNEW it would be bad.. and thank Jesus we just watched it on the computer.

And I think my review says it all.. 3 words and a poor rating can give you a lot Taylor. Just because you say retarded **** which gives you no input as to what thought doesn't mean I do the same. Mine says a lot.. considering all the GOOD movies I watch I give some sort of review.

The movie sucked, plain and simple. The idea was ****, the actors were ****, the ending was ****, everything ABOUT it was ****. And what everyone else said is correct.

Need any more help?

Go watch Rec.

Rec is ****ing awesome.

So, yeah, Americans probably have ruined something else. The original is gritty, scary, shocking and fantastic. This remake? Screaming, once again "Americans, stick to your own ideas".

I love you Ben. You have good taste in movies. :p The original Rec I kinda came across strangely. I was in my local supermarket and I saw it so made a note to look up about it.
I saw some trailers and read that the end scene was the scariest scene in ANY horror movie. I also love hand held camcorder movies (apart from Blair Witch, as it was ****). I finally got to see Rec and it almost jumps straight into it. A lot faster than Cloverfield does. You then feel like you're involved and your trying to work things out at the same pace of everyone else. Everyone's frantic to find a way out and are being chased and devoured by viral infected humans. The raw sounds used intensify each scene.
Also Rec catches you out where all other horror films fail. Most films you can tell when something is going to try and make you jump. On Rec it's so random and unexpected it's terrifying. It's got a few moments where you know something is going to jump out, but it still manages to keep you tensed up and it still scares the bloody **** outta you when it happens.

And that final scene was almost unbearable to watch it was so ****ing scary. :p

Burn After Reading

7/10

Really left me and my best mate with a feeling of WTF? Yet we were still laughing at the weirdness as we walked out of the cinema at the end. I'd recommend it if you like really weird films. I'm still trying to work out what actually happened in it.

So, after all this Rec stuff, I decided to watch it.

It was good, but nothing absolutely mind-blowingly spectacular by any means. The way they filmed it worked really well though, and some parts were pretty freaky like near the end, and some other parts during the course of it. Again, it's one of those movies where you can really put yourself into the character's position which kinda gets your mind wondering what you would do if you were them. I liked the fact that it wasn't eighty zillion hours long like a lot of movies are these days, too.

7.8/10

^^ Hehe, went to see Burn after reading Friday night.

Its such a great film, you are left with a mega "wtf" moment at the end but its highly amusing. I think the quote from the film that made me lol the most was the "come back went it...well...starts making sense". For once I thought Clooney was good (I never imagined I would say such blasphemy) and his secret project nearly had the cinema audience rofling. Franics macDormand was good, as always. Pitt was excellent at playing the dumbass fitness instructor and it was great to see a return to form for John Malkovich (sp?).

Rating: 4/5

Firstly, Rec is awesome, end of.

Secondly, I watched two movies last night. First one was 21 with Kevin Spacey and some other guys =]
Some kids who are really good at maths use this skill to learn to count cards then go to Vegas to win the big time. Stuff goes wrong, money squandering and stealing, a light-hearted sex scene, and some predictable stuff happens. It was ok as a 'cheap thrill' kind of film, wasn't anything fantastic.

7/10, it loses points because Spacey isn't as good as he should be, I felt it was the wrong sort of character for him to play.

The next film I watched was All The Boys Love Mandy Lane. Oh. My. God. How good is this film? It had everything I would want in a movie, it was just such a good watch, I might even have to buy it. It's like a teen slasher movie with a twist, it's just so much more than what other movies of this genre are. Really well filmed and original editing/camera shots. Great ending too.

9/10

Urgh, is it like that with all their films? No Country for Old Men had the most ridiculous ending I've seen.

Saw 50 First Dates this morning. Generally entertaining, not the best, but funny in parts.

Oh and at about 11pm last night, 3 or 4 of us watched Titanic all the way through. Never done that before. Only seen it in two.

I never appreciated it as much as I do now! It was brilliant! Not worthy of 10/10 though.
