Six Flags Qiddiya | Saudi Arabia | Theme Park

^ Oh that is WEIRD. The gondola would've looked silly wrapped around the whole tower as well but those gondolas that aren't nearly as wide as the tower moving independently like an old fashioned Intamin drop tower, even weirder looking. Will say, does the tower really need to be that thick? The 134m tall Funtime drop tower at ICON wasn't that much thicker than a standard Funtime drop tower I don't think.

This one is both a launch tower and drop tower so there's just more "stuff" inside the tower. This one also goes below ground level so there's some additional height there too that you can't see but the thing is surprisingly beefy. The decision to do split vehicles is to keep the ride in service while different sections are undergoing maintenance, which I'm happy to see.

Definitely excited to ride this one though I know I be clenching pretty hard haha. Drop towers still get me a bit.

I saw some chat on X last night that 25th December is rumoured for the opening date. Sounds about right if they are sticking to a 2025 opening, as it doesn't look like it'll be ready to open long before the end of the year.

I was semi-contemplating stopping off in Saudi on the way somewhere else the week before Christmas, but decided it'd be too much of a gamble on it being open and decided on something totally different instead and to perhaps fit this in in 2026 (only as a through-stop, I'm not staying in Saudi for much longer than I have to!).

Finally we have testing footage of Spitfire:

I love the inside top hat just like I used to always build on RCT2!

So if they have maintenance problems and are forced to run one train, it's going to be like 10 minutes between dispatches?
Potentially. I guess that's partially why they have six trains in the first place (as well as the long ride duration obviously). I can't actually remember exactly how long Intamin think the duration will be, but I think I was told either 6 or 7 minutes, and I think that includes load time. I have no idea how confident they are on that from testing so far.

With the ride having 6 trains, we can easily determine the minimum number of block zones within the station building.

For those who are not familiar:
A block zone is a section of ride that only one train may occupy at a time. At the end of a block zone there is a method to stop the train, in case the block zone ahead is still occupied. This is the safety system that prevents rollercoaster trains from colliding with one another. Let’s look at the block sections on Falcons Flight.

Boarding
Lift 1
Uphill Launch
Top of the cliff
Final brake run

That leaves us with 5 block zones, so logically speaking we should have at least 2 additional parking positions within the station.

I think it was mentioned a while ago that this coaster would have double loading station and separate load/unload on each side.

As for blocks:
Prelift 1
Lift 1
Prelift/launch 2
Bottom of big drop before the Saint Louis' arch
Safety brakes
Brakes before station

Even if all 6 trains were to stack, 4 would be in the station and 2 before it, giving them ample time to cool down.

So they have two load and unload stations? Im guessing guests will be let into the side that is most ready whilst the other one is cooling down? Kinda cool

I'm assuming the trains will unload at the back of the station, and pull into a waiting zone before loading, similar to dark rides like Rise of the Resistance. This would give the wheels time to cool theoretically. I'm no engineer though, and know nothing about the logistics or anything like that.
