Six Flags Qiddiya | Saudi Arabia | Theme Park

Apparently this opened yesterday for a soft opening because it was a bit colder than expected - I haven't seen any POVs yet or heard any reports?

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe it wasn't actually a real soft opening. There was a tourism industry conference in Riyadh this week, and they were giving tours to people from the conference every evening, then at the end of the conference there was some sort of talk and event at the park, then the conference people were allowed to go on most of the rides. Falcon's Flight hasn't operated with people at all as far as anyone online has seen, but people have ridden Iron Rattler, Colossus, I think Spitfire, and presumably some of the smaller (and less interesting) rides too.

The current projected opening date is December 31st, but most people seem to think that Falcon's won't open until mid-late February at the earliest. The park hasn't said anything official about either of these yet, but people at the tourism conference reported on the opening date, and they're completely blanking everyone on the media week list that's emailed to ask about Falcon's Flight and the park opening so far, just saying that they have an announcement soon.

Presumably an opening date announcement coming at 6pm local (GMT+3):

Currently displayed entrance times:

Summer
Weekdays 10 am - 12 am
Weekends 9 am - 2 am
Winter
Weekdays 10 am - 12 am
Weekends 9 am - 2 am

Prices are 325 Saudi Riyal (~£66) off peak / weekday and 450 Saudi Riyal (~£92) peak / weekend. There is an unlimited Fastrack (called Go Fast Pass) available for 430 Saudi Riyal, and it specifically mentions it includes Falcons Flight. There's no multi-day park ticket options.
Tickets are (as far as I can tell) only available until end of January currently.

The promo video does show (CGI) footage of Falcons Flight working, and there's currently nothing to suggest that no rides will not open with the park.

EDIT: Response on Instagram are saying "all rides will be open"!

I'd love to get out there ASAP (maybe around opening, or if not, February), but will hold off until there's explicit confirmation about everything being open (and actually being able to buy tickets beyond January).

Just a case of figuring out the best time to go now....I'm expecting teething issues, so I kinda want to see everything operating reliably before booking anything.

I work in major projects (different industry) and 31st December is a very common date to open/start-up. It probably means they won't be really ready but will open up on the 31st in whatever state they are in because they need to declare that they are open in 2025 due to commitments to government, shareholders etc. Expect it to be a bit rough around the edges for the first few months.

Yes, I did think those hours were too much, and didn't reflect the shuttle bus timings. I expect it's placeholder values which currently haven't been updated - I've noticed that a couple of times on the website, and feel like there's more Practical Info to come on the site.

100€ for a day ticket to a completely new park is absolutely nuts, but to be fair they're gonna need the extra dosh to maintain Falcon's Flight cause that's definitely not gonna be cheap. I wonder how sustainable that pricing is for customers though, especially locals.

Spoilered for mild rant:
Kinda annoyed that people who seem principled who I know in the space are all excited about going suddenly. Yeah, I get it, Falcon's Flight, but like I don't care about people going who aren't politically active but people who use social media for activism supporting this artificial rehabilitation of Saudi Arabia's image and creation of a tourism industry that wasn't there before seems hypocritical, especially if you film it, publish it and therefore actively participate in the marketing of Saudi Arabia as a tourist destination. People have gotten in warm water for vlogging there in other avenues (holiday villages and such that have been built there recently).
There's obviously plenty of countries whose state you disagree with in the world but for the most part, the tourism would exist anyway and that bell can't be un-rung, so to say. The reason why Saudi (and still to an extent UAE) are different is that you can still affect their economies and policies by not participating in their tourism or the rehabilitation (insert word here-washing) of their image if you really want to. For a country like China or the US for example, if you don't like the state or government, you not filming a vlog at a park there isn't gonna make a lick of difference because they have a huge domestic tourism industry and the international tourism is already well settled in regardless, you needn't worry about much more than your personal safety in going. Which is why countries that really really need your tourism are trying their best to ensure that latter part.

This park is more of a winter destination so I guess that’s go early this year and risk teething problems or…. go next winter and risk it no longer operating
This is what I'm currently thinking about. The Chinese New Year holiday is the perfect time for me to head there, but I'm considering whether to try and go during the upcoming one or hold off for a year. The coming one is late February, which is later than usual, so it gives a couple of months for any teething problems.

Opening day or immediately after runs too much risk of teething issues for me.

I'm eyeing up February half term currently.

Hoping we soon see footage of it operating reliably with people on it.

I lied. CNY is mid February, and I've just booked it, with a stopover in Doha for a couple of days. It's also Ramadan, so I'm hoping that will just make the whole thing more of an "evening / night time" thing rather than cause any major problems. Everything's refundable up to a couple of days before the trip, so it's not going to be disastrous if the park is having major teething problems still.
