Spinball Whizzer to Sonic Spinball?

furie, Alton do have a rather tired looking major ride, Oblivion looks in a much worse state than Spinball did last season imo...

My opinion is just based upon Tussauds doing similar with rides (Rapids, Flume, Bubbles springing instantly to mind), and to say that these have been improved by the branding is strange...

Spinball is obviously just a supporting ride to the park, and is always busy (whether it's due to popularity or lack of decent throughput is the question), surely making it a lot more marketable will result in a massive increase in popularity for a low throughput ride making the queues even worse than before?

Since Spinball is also a rather iffy ride when it comes to reliablity (all Sohne spinners are), this could also be problematic, as Skips ending their association with Fury proved...

I'm wondering how much of an impact the Sonic brand is actually gonna have over Thirteen, as people do prefer comfort in knowing what they're getting...

I fully expect this ride to go "SEEEEEEGAAAAAA" when you leave the station.

Aren't the paint jobs on pretty much all of Altons coasters tired looking?

To be fair, Nemesis' is meant to be.

^^I am SOOOOOOOO tempted to dig my old Megadrive out of the attic.

Is the motorbike game "Road Rash"? That was **** ing brilliant!

Sorry, back on topic. New theming looks great/ok/awful etc. Alton are doing a fabulous/acceptable/crappy job of bringing something new to this amazing/average/rubbish coaster.

**** staying on topic. Road Rash was, and still is, an AWESOME game. I loved chaining people off their bikes.

Downloaded Megadrive emulator last night and spent a good couple of hours on Sonic. Labyrinth </3 Then I remembered the level selection cheat and got to the end no problem! :D

Ahhh Sonic <3.

That Marble Zone music brought back so many memories. Why did I ever get rid of my megadrive?

The ride... well, it'll still be Spinball. Just ever so slightly Sonic-like. The re-theme definately makes sense though, but it won't make me want to ride it more. But that's only me.

Offical Sonic music has been confirmed on the ride page of Alton's website.

A SEGA UK employee on a Sonic message board has the track list and said they will be posting it soon.

*squee*

Let's just hope it's the original mega drive sound track! :--D But unfortunately I believe it's an updated technoish version like all other alton rides got...

It'll no doubt be something new and "Wii-ish". SEGA aren't going to miss on a massive plug opportunity ;)

Just ask Ollie :p

I wonder whether three year sponsorship ties with how long the ride has left in the park...

I wonder what other rides in the park could get SEGA crossovers?

Thirteen - twinned with Altered Beast?
Rita - the crazy taxi?
AIR NiGHTS?

Almost doesn't bear thinking about...

Oh good god no.

I can see how this is a fantastic move for the park and executed well, it could work. Unfortunately I don't trust them to do that. Like everyone else, I'm seeing Sonic stickers and Sega branding everywhere. And maybe a few rings plonked in the ride area.

Imo a very camp looking Sonic.

It also appears the Adventureland logo has been updated:
