Small News From The Theme Park Industry

Apparently Fantasilandia in Chile is building an Intamin ZacSpin for 2027: https://rcdb.com/23191.htm

I had no idea Intamin were still manufacturing these! Given that the last one opened nearly 15 years ago, I thought they’d largely fallen by the wayside in favour of the S&S 4D Free Spin…
This one was manufactured in 2018 for a Chinese project that never happened. It's been for sale since then.

The ride won't be at the current Fantasilandia park either it's for the relocated park. The park and the Zac spin are both covered in this topic for the new park

Also the last one was built less than 2 years ago 🤣 it's just not operating yet.

I'm glad nobody's hurt! But honestly I'm surprised stuff like this doesn't happen more often with how frail and spindly Zippers look in construction and the presumable high age of most of them on the US fair circuit.

Just.. how?!
Usually either severe lack of any maintenance / safety checks or garbage quality product in the first place (with bad welds, low quality steel or bad engineering that causes metal fatigue) or both. Can't tell who made the ride immediately from this video, I don't think it's a Fabbri, KMG or Funtime (the typical Booster manufacturers) but it wouldn't be completely out of the question, as even reputable ride manufacturers have accidents like this if the operator doesn't check for fatigue, corrosion etc, like what happened with the KMG Afterburner in Ohio in 2017.

After doing trial runs this past summer, Plopsa Indoor Coevorden is now free to enter for all guests going forward. Visitors will instead either pay three euros per ride or buy various ticket packages, including an unlimited wristband for €27.50. All playground equipment and character meet-and-greets are free of charge.

Pope & Land has proposed Big Poplar II, a $219 million development in Coweta County, Georgia, that would include a 13-acre amusement park, two hotels and 340,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. If approved, the project is expected to generate $8.7 million in annual tax revenue and be completed by 2036. Source

Pinball X, the seven-year-old Zamperla Wild Mouse that has been operating at Flamingo Park in Hastings, UK, since its relocation from Dreamland in 2021, is currently being dismantled and shipped to Curry's Fun Park in Galway, Ireland. Source

a few tidbits from an IAAPA expo europe interview by Ride Review with Maximilian Roeser of Mack Rides:
  • track production is done in three shifts (previously two) starting january to keep up with demand, so we can expect lots of new mack products
  • new spinning coaster in europe (probably a twist clone at leolandia)
  • two water coasters currently in production (plohn and probably paultons)
  • two extreme sprinning coasters (probably Plopsaland Germany and Six Flags Great Adventure)
  • they have some "very very big enquiries from big parks" and they were surprised about the fast reaction by the market to a certain product (this statement could relate to either the rocking boat, stryker or the flowryde, personally leaning more towards the rocking boat, also considering the rumors for epic universe)

Efteling and Vekoma have collaborated on a ”coaster-seat wheelchair” design that could be safely attached to existing coaster trains and allow disabled guests to experience the attraction without having to change seats. The prototype, presented by the two parties at IAAPA Europe, serves as an invitation for other manufacturers to come up with their own solutions to make their rides more accessible, according to Vekoma’s CEO Anne-Mart Agerbeek.

That's freaking awesome! If this is a workable solution, this could be a game changer for wheelchair users.
I (obviously) love coasters and I want as many people to be able to experience them as possible.
